Catch Basins

     Catch Basins are normally installed where surface water is to be collected and then carried by underground piping.  The basin is designed such that sediment or other debris may settle in a sump area below the level of discharge piping.  Some basins may incorporate a baffle or trap to further aid in blocking floating debris from entering the piping.  As debris accumulates, the sump area must be cleaned-out in order to maintain proper operation.

     Concrete Light Duty Basins are typically used in areas not subject to car or truck traffic.  Perforated 1/4" thick steel covers are sized to fit into the recessed wall areas at the top of the basin ( see inset photo above ).  Garages, wineries, warehouses, backyards, nurseries and greenhouses are among the areas where these basins are installed.

     Concrete Heavy Duty Catch Basins are designed to carry car and truck traffic loads.  Walls and bottoms are typically at least 4-1/2" thick, with inside diameters normally 24" and overall heights between 30" and 60".  Separate riser sections and / or grade rings may be added to suite grade requirements.  Heavy duty OPSD cast iron frame & grates are used in vehicular traffic areas.  Such grates may be hinged so as to facillitate opening for basin servicing.  Winona's HD 24" ID basins are typically used in driveways, parking lots, farms, factories and underground parking garages.

     Lifting Inserts are cast into the heavy duty basins.  Grab hooks may be used to attach to these inserts making for safe, convenient lifting and placement of the basins.

     All of Winona's concrete catch basins are made with high density concrete utilizing low water to cement mix designs.
